When the COVID-19 Quarantine shut down the final season of Supernatural prematurely, their optimistic plan was to release the final 7 episodes in the fall of 2020. It looks like they’ve managed to keep that schedule and have officially announced that CW will begin airing the beloved series’ final run on Thursday October 8th.

According to THIS article in Deadline,

“The long journey of Sam and Dean Winchester is slated to end with a November 19 series finale, preceded by a one-hour special titled Supernatural: The Long Way Home at 8 p.m.”

Technically, production on the last two episodes hasn’t started, but barring any problems it is slated to begin the final run this week.

Jensen Ackles, who plays Dean Winchester on the series isn’t resting on the bumper of Baby for very long. Amazon Studios announced that he will be joining the cast of The Boys with season 3, where he will play Soldier Boy. In the comics that the series is based on, Soldier Boy was the original hero that became a celebrity in that history’s timeline.

“I keep wondering what I’ll do….when @cw_supernatural finally ends this year,” Ackles wrote on Instagram. “Then it hit me.”

I think Ackles is a solid choice for this role and I’ve really enjoyed The Boys a lot, so this is exciting for me. I am looking forward to the new season. (And I need to get caught up on Supernatural - I’m three seasons behind right now)
